Overview & History

Le Rocher was built in around 1850. It was origionally built as a restaurant/canteen and hotel for the local ore mine. Its name at that time was Restaurant de la Mines. We're told that during WWII the german army occupied the hotel as a base. The mine continued to operate until 1973 employing around 400 people. During the time the mine was operating there were many pubs in the village which people operated from their homes. Now, however there is 1 bar/tabac in the village as well as a restaurant. The need for the Restaurant de la Mines went with the loss of the mine and the building was converted in to a house. We became proud owners in 2006. What we have found is a village with welcoming and friendly people who are always willing to lend a helping hand. The house is situated in a picturesque part of rural Normandy that you simply can't help but fall in love with. . .
